Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital has received funding of Kshs. 300 million from the World Bank, through the Ministry of Health, to construct a Biosafety Level two-Laboratory (BSL 2 Public Health Laboratory) and Ebola Isolation Ward.

Speaking during handing over of the proposed site to the contractor on Tuesday 27th, 2018, MTRH CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa said that the project will be one of its kind in East Africa.

He asked the contractor to ensure good standards are maintained and deliver the project in good time.

'I call upon the contractor to ensure the best comes out. I am personally guided by own levels of quality and that is what we are focused on," he said.

Dr. Aruasa further stated that the project  should be ready in 12 months.

"We are lucky to be the beneficiaries of this landmark project which will be a game changer.  The contractor should adhere to the stipulated guidelines."
